RIP Josh & Raya Arcus

Joshua Arcus and his wife Raya were involved in a fatal car crash this week when moving across Canada from Calgary to Montreal. Their passing has rocked their community in Adelaide and friends throughout the world.

Anyone who knew Josh and Raya could not have been anything but touched by them. They always had time to listen, would challenge you and ultimately had a heart for people.

We say goodbye to two beautiful people and dear friends. Can't believe you are gone, but we know you have gone to a better place and you are together.

You will never be forgotton.

It's over now...

Thanks so much to the people that came to our farewell show and to Mere Theory, Away From Now & Sumi for doing a more than an excellent job of warming up the stage. It was a huge nite and one that will live on in our memories for a long time! Check out all the pics!

We were told that there we're some people who missed out on getting our "RIP" T-shirt on the nite, so if you're still interested just email us and we should be able organise one for you. Our album & ep will still be available in stores and via the website until stocks run out.

Again, a very big thanks to all the people who have helped, supported and encouraged us through out the years. It has meant so much and helped shape us a people and musicians. We are forever grateful!

Keep going out to shows - there are heaps of great bands and good people around.

Last Rehersal...

Well we've had our last practice together and now we're all ready for Sunday. Really looking forward to it, even though it will be sad.

We are very excited to have Mere Theory, Away From Now & Sumi joining us. Not only do we love the music of all these guys, but we love them as people and highly respect them and their reasons for playing music. They'll all go on to do great things!

There are so many other bands who we have loved and are grateful for playing with over the years, and we must give a very special thanks to Thinktank & Antiskeptic in particular who have both been a huge support and have thrown quite a few oppotunities our way. Thanks guys!

We'll see you soon!

Thursday 20 May 2004

Not long!

Yep, just over 2 weeks till our last show. It's getting kinda sad now... we have some special "RIP" t-shirts ready for the show and we've got a couple of old designs left (xtra big & small sizes) that we'll be selling a bit cheaper.

Thanks to those that came to the Get Up Kids & Saves The Day show. What a great nite! And it was so good to see so many familar faces in the crowd - thanks for coming early!

Now we get ready for the final party on the 6th. Hope to see you there!

Mixed emotions...

First of all, tour with In The Grey was awesome! Great bands to play with, lots of fun was had & met lots of lovely people. Thanks to those that came to the shows and came and had chat and those that helped us out along the way with gear & a place to stay... ahh the memories... should have a pic for the site soon!

The next bit of news is a lot harder to write. Here goes... we're breaking up! Its been a very tough decision for us to make, but Josh is leaving to live in Canada in July and after much soul searching, thinking, discussion and weighing up of options we've decided to call it a day. We'll all continue to do something with music but just not together as Edison.

We are so grateful to all the people who've helped, encouraged & supported us and for all the amazing friendships; these live on beyond the music! Thank you so much!

So we've only got a couple of shows left, this Sun with The Get Up Kids and then put Sun 6 Jun in your diaries for our farewell show, it'll be one big party!

We'd love to see you at one of these last shows, come say hi!

Till then.

PS Have a new MP3 of "A Process & A Puzzle" available from the Sounds page.

The Get Up Kids & Saves The Day...

Yep! Two of our fav bands are coming to Oz and we're very excited to be joining them (and constant tourers Gyroscope) on their Adelaide leg of the tour at Heaven. That will be one night of sweet rock'n'roll...

...first things first. We start our east coast tour with Sydney boys In The Grey next week, five dates in four cities. We've heard that not only are they a great band, but are also lovely bunch of people so it should be a fun trip and they'll be definitely worth checking out! And there's heaps of other cool bands we'll be catching up with on this trip: Antiskeptic, After The Fall & IKTPQ again in Sydney for their Renegade Tour ( if Adelaide was anything to go by, it should be awesome), our close friends Away From Now (these guys rock!) in Melbourne and back to Adelaide with up & comers Hi End Audio and Save & Exit (keep hearing good things about this band)! Can't wait!

Oh yeah. We're album of the week on the Nightlife on Life FM (Adelaide) next week - 107.9FM.

Have a great easter and come say g'day at a show! No more promises about writing sooner, but you never know....

Tuesday 02 March 2004

Sorry Peeps...

Forgot to change the info for the Antiskeptic show here in Adelaide, check the shows section now for updated info, and all should be correct!

Monday 01 March 2004

We're gettin busy..

Well so much for getting back on here quicker this time! Have now recovered from heat exhaustion from the Crown and Anchor show, brutally hot but a great deal of fun was had with the Mere Theory boys putting on a great show, what a band. (Richie, it must be said, is the buffest man in rock!)

Have now confirmed a couple of 'rock extravaganza' evenings with our Melbourne buds Antiskeptic. One here, one in Sydney, check the shows section for all the info.

But for now we have some great shows lined up with the (not so) 'new boys' The Hot Lies who impressed with their first outing, Friday night with Thinktank at the Cranker. For all you Adelaideans come check them out with us at the Jade Monkey this weekend. And then next weekend should be a beauty as well, No Grace rockin the tiny Austral stage and Staying at Home another must see.

Looking forward to it, hope to see ya at a show! Come and say hi, stay for a chat!

Till then..

Tuesday 10 February 2004

Good times a' comin!

Had a great return to the playing arena for the year, check out Sumi if you get a chance - a rad young band, and we had an awesome time with them at the Enigma. Now we're into the swing of things again, gearing up for Friday with Mere Theory at the Crown and Anchor. If you're from Adelaide and missed them with Thinktank last week, make sure you get down there Friday and see 'the' band to watch, rockin out for free!

We are also stoked to let you know, we have confirmed a short east coast tour with Sydney's 'In the Grey'. We have been really looking forward to getting over there to see all you guys again, and what a way to do it! Check out the Shows Section for all the details.

Orright, hope to see ya at a show, and will try to write sooner next time!

Till then.

Wednesday 14 January 2004

So this is the new year...and i dont feel any different!

Well, honestly not a great deal to tell you folks, except that we all had a great break, with overseas visitors, friends, fun and frivolity, and some side project recording fun.

We are now back rehearsing, and really looking forward to some cool upcoming shows, including a wedding of some great friends. Check the shows section for all the details. Keep your collective eyes peeled for the return of our good mates and 'label buddies', Mere Theory, and the much awaited return of those rockin Killchoir boys with new look lineup, new songs, and under the new guise of 'The Hot Lies'.

Anyway, stay cool, dont spend too much on big festivals and international bands, and get out to see some local stuff! Hope to see you at a show!

Thursday 30 October 2003

Hello again!

Well we're home safe and sound from our east coast tour with Thinktank - lots of driving & playing and not much sleep - we had great time! Thanks to those who came out to the shows and picked up a copy of the album and big thanks to the 'Tank for taking us with them.

Our album launch in Adelaide was a memorable one for us - a sell out crowd packed into the Enigma Bar! Thanks to Mere Theory, Donnie & Adrian and Sunsetsallday as well as our guest instrumentalists Pete, Joshua & Kate for helping to make it a special nite.

We head back to Melbourne in a couple of weeks to do our album launch on Fri 21 Nov (note there has been a change of date) - the venue & guests should be confirmed in next couple of days - keep an eye on the site.

Can't wait...
